Sermon Snippet – 14th July 2019

Each week we’ll post a short snippet from Ashley’s sermon from that Sunday. His sermon this Sunday looked at the book of Philippians and reflected on how we bear witness in a world that’s bent out of shape.

We are not called to make the world straight again. We are not called to extinguish every dot of the darkness. But we are called to live like Christ, loving and serving others, even our enemies, and even at great cost… because this is the way the kingdom of God breaks into our world.

Maybe to our eyes it won’t make any difference. Being a Christian in the workplace won’t get easier. Being a Christian raising kids won’t suddenly work as you want it to. Whatever you’re facing as a Christian might not change at all, and you might wonder if you’re having any influence, or changing anything by your faithfulness.

But that doesn’t matter. That’s not our responsibility. Our responsibility is to follow Jesus, in the midst of whatever challenges we’re facing, and then to let God do the rest.
