Our Church premises are currently closed and all the regular activities that take place on site are suspended. Activities that usually take place away from our premises, such as Home Groups, are also suspended.
We are not opening the premises for private prayer as this is not part of our tradition or our usual practice.
During this time we continue to offer Sunday Worship (via the Vimeo video sharing platform), a fortnightly Sunday Communion and a fortnightly Youth Group (both using the Zoom conferencing app). Information about these can be found on the Our Community pages by clicking here.
As lockdown measures are relaxed the Minister and Deacons will pay careful attention to the advice of HM Government and the Baptist Union of Great Britain before making any decision to reopen the premises or recommence activities.
Please be advised that announcements by HM Government to the effect that places of worship can reopen will not mean that we will be ready to go straight away. The Minister and Deacons will give careful thought to our local situation as this will determine whether we will be able to open the building or host activities safely.
Among other things we will need to consider the suitability of the layout of the premises for maintaining social distancing and the cleaning that will need to take place between each use of the building.
We will also be assessing the risk factors related to spreading the virus and we anticipate that these will be different for each group depending on the size, age make-up and possible health conditions of the group members.
As and when we determine it may be possible to reopen the premises or restart activities then this will only happen after a consultation with those responsible for leading these activities. We will not be starting activities if the leaders of those groups do not feel confident about doing so.
